Hounslow Heath

'Hi and welcome to the website of Hill on the Heath. We are aiming to create the Hill on the Heath Farm situated on the north side of Hounslow Heath where the public can enjoy picnicking, playing, climbing, cycling over 10 acres and riding into the heath beyond.

Set around the hill, people of all ages will be able to relax amongst pavillioned water gardens and mess around in boats. Rising up the hill itself will afford facilities for adventure sports including climbing, ropewalking and biking, and ultimately at the top will provide a panoramic outlook over the whole Thames basin from Canary Wharf to Harrow on the Hill and the North Downs.

Down on the Farm a new ranger’s office with a field centre will provide better understanding of the history of Hounslow Heath from its beginnings through its time of military importance, its low point as excavated gravel pits and its recent restoration as a nature reserve. In conjunction with this, there will be a permanent police facility situated in the Farm buildings.

By venturing onto the heath along pathways to connecting knolls you will be able to enjoy the expansive views of enlarged swathes of heather over which a roving herd of Sussex and Hereford cattle will pasture. These pathways will take you through attractive vistas of richly diverse vegetation between concentrations of field Maple, spring Cherry and autumn Acacia leading back to the Farm.
